The White Stork Synagogue Choir

The Only Synagogical Choir in Poland. 
It was founded in April 1996 as an initiative of Stanislaw Rybarczyk as well as students and graduates of the Music Academy in Wroclaw, supported by the Board of The Jewish Community in Wroclaw.

Since then the choir has given many concerts in many Polish and foreign cities. It took part in Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow, Wratislavia Cantans Festival in Wroclaw, Religious Music Festival in Szczecin, "The End of The Millenium Meetings” - organized in many Polish cities, "The Oratorio Music Festival" in Przemysl, "Music in Sandomierz" Festival, Meetings with Jewish Culture "SIMCHA" in Wroclaw, "The Sacral Music Festival" in Gdynia, "The Three Cultures Festival" in Wlodawa, "The International Festival Of The Organ Music" in Jelenia Gora, "Wroclaw on Rhenium" Festival, "The Stage Songs Competitions" on the show entitled ‘Aklimaja’ and on "Tumskie Evenings" in Wroclaw.
The choir performed also on The International Book Fair in Frankfurt on Main. It participated in commemoration of The "Kristal Nacht" victims in Hanover, Braunschweig, Berlin, Hamburg and Görlitz.

The White Stork Synagogue Choir co-operates with splendid Jewish artists: Bente Kahan, Leopold Kozlowski - "the last Klezmer in The Republic of Poland and cantor - Simaha Keller, and also with the most famous foreign cantors: Joseph Malovany /New York/, Moshe Schulhof /Miami/, Roslyn Barak /San Francisco/, Shmuelem Barzilaiem /Vienna/, Moshe Stern /Jerusalem - the cantor of The Great Synagogue/, Laszlo Fekete /Budapest/.
The choir co-operates also with The European Center of The Jewish Music in Hanover directed by Andor Izsak.

In March 1998 the choir recorded its first CD with compositions of Moritz Deutsch - patron of the choir. The second CD was produced in Germany, it contains music of the "Destroyed Synagogues". In February 2001 the choir took part in the recording of traditional Jewish songs arranged by Roman Kołakowski and Mateusz Pospieszalski, with Justyna Steczkowska (famous Polish singer), Mateusz Pospieszalski with his orchestra, and The Chamber Orchestra Leopoldinum".

The music critics speak enthusiastically about the choir, emphasising the splendid skills of the musicians and the unforgettable atmosphere of the concerts.
It popularizes songs of great cantor from Wroclaw - Moritz Deutsh, who was the lecturer at Breslauer Judisch-Teologisches Seminar. Moritz Deutsch sang with his choir in The White Stork Synagogue from 1844 to 1889.
The choir sings synagogical music from the great European synagogues: Breslau - Moritz Deutsch, Berlin - Luis Lewandowsky, Vienna - Salomon Sultzer, Paris - Salomon Naumburg.

Stanisław Michał Rybarczyk

He completed conductorial studies in Poznan and in Wroclaw under the guidance of Stefan Stuligrosz, Renard Czajkowski, Marek Pijarowski and Marek Tracz. Besides, he studied organ playing at The Music Academy and Polish Philology at The University of Wroclaw.

From 1984 to 1994 he was the conductor of The Opera House in Wroclaw and realized many premieres there. At that time he was also the manager of The Opera Choir.
From 1985 to 1990 he was the manager and the conductor of The Chamber Male Choir "Cantilena" with which - he won the first prize during The Orthodox Church Music Days in Hajnowka (Poland, 1987), the third prize and the special prize at The Choir Festival in Oldenzaal (Holland, 1988). Between 1986-1990 Stanisław Rybarczyk directed also The Wroclaw Boys Choir "Pueri Consonantes".

From 1989 to 1991 he was the artistic manager and the conductor of The Chamber Choir and Orchestra of The Polish Radio and Television in Wroclaw, with which he realized many recordings especially of the Polish Baroque and Renaissance music.

Since 1991 he has been co-operating with The Artistic Agency "Pro Musica" in Wroclaw. He conducts The Symphonic and The Chamber Orchestra of Music Gimnasium in Wroclaw. Since April 1996 he has directed and conducted The White Stork Synagogue Choir, which has been founded as his initiative.

Between 1993 and 1997 he was the conductor of The Chamber Choir at Wroclaw Philharmonic and the lecturer at The Music Academy in Wroclaw.

In 1999 he initiated very prestigious artistic projects called "Tumskie Evenings" - which are concerts connected with the lectures. They take place in every last Sunday in the temples of Ostrow Tumski - a religious island in Wroclaw. Stanislaw Rybarczyk has also created "Havdalah Concerts" in The White Stork Synagogue in Wroclaw and "Meetings with The Jewish Culture -SIMCHA". He is the author of the spectacle "The End of The Millenium which was staged in many Polish cities.

Since 2000 he has been the artistic manager of Polish - German Youth Philharmonic - Lower Silesia. Since 2002 he has been the conductor of The Papal Theological Faculty Choir.

Stanislaw Rybarczyk gave concerts at many festivals in Poland (Wratislavia Cantans, Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow 1997) and abroad (Ryga, Wiesbaden, Madrid, Nancy).
He conducts symphonic concerts in philharmonic halls, realized many recordings for The Polish Radio and Television, conducted in France, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, and Spain, Italy and Latvia.

He co-operated with The Theater Gorlitz /Germany/.
